How does Maximum Medical Improvement affects Workers' Comp?

How does Maximum Medical Improvement affects Workers' Comp? Workers' compensation or widely known as workers' comp is a form of insurance exclusively for employees that has sustained injuries, either minor or major, while in the course of their job which provides them wage replacement while they are in their state of recuperation as wells as medical benefits that covers one's medical bills, medicines, and the overall needs of the patient employee. While these are offered all at once to an employee, in exchange, they are required to forfeit any of their rights to sue their employer for the offense of "negligence act" or malicious act. In link to this is a policy called Maximum Medical Improvement or MMI, is a term used when an injured employee reaches the best shape or state from the condition that he/she recovered from. Who and how is Maximum Medical Improvement or MMI determined?  Usually, the doctor who is in charge of your care and wellness, a physician, is the only person who can determine your Maximum Medical Improvement. Though, the patient employer has also the freedom to request for an Independent Medical Examination or IME by a qualified physician to perform a determination and decide if the patient has fully recovered after reviewing patient's medical records and generally examining the employer patient. What happens after reaching MMI?  In most cases, not all, after a patient with a workers' comp insurance. they are entitled for an additional medical coverage which includes treatment and medicines that is needed to the linked injury caused by the accident inside the work place for a bound of time. The limited time is commonly around 5 years after the date an employee sustained an injury to sustain one's continuing recuperation and recovery even after achieving MMI for an individual to function properly and continue to make living and productive rather than used to improve one's condition.  Is MMI subjective? How long does it take one to achieve MMI?  As what have mentioned previously, MMI is determined by a qualified physician through general health evaluation and running through history and other health-related papers, though, it may not be subjective to patients' view, different physician from different institutions' outlook on one's current condition would likely to vary and disagree on when a patient has achieved MMI. The fact that each body has different healing capabilities and hence, time taking in factors such as lifestyle, family history and characteristics, and underlying health issues could significantly telling that a person could heal in no specific amount of time which accounts to the fact that there is no telling when one could achieve MMI. And, MMI is still a continuing policy to workers' comp as many thought that MMI means that an injured worker has fully recovered to his/her former state extent, but that is not always true as some movements in their job could cause their previous injury to be triggered and may cause another set of problems and possibilities of loss of function, cognitive issues, and permanent pain and could not be repairable even with countless treatments one receive.
